Title: Fraser River High And Rising
Post by: chris gadsden on May 18, 2005, 09:36:35 PM
While picking up my boat launching pass at Island 22 today I noticed the Fraser River was very high and of course extremely muddy.

Also I noticed on checking on my computer the river gauge at Hope is nearing a 2 year high and will mostly surpass these peaks, as the river is still rising at South Fort George.

The prediction was for a low runoff this year but that seems to be incorrect but the recent rain and more to come will be contributing a bit to the high level.

Bar fishing will be a few weeks away yet I would say.

Looks like the rains have stopped and water is coming down a bit.

Mission is not the best gauge to use because of the tidal effect.

            Hope

            May 18th   7.20
  today   May 19th  7.49

As well the Thompson River at Spences Bridge is at a three year high.

A two year high I believe at Hope then. So much for a low runoff year that they predicted.
