I'm looking to buy a fish finder for both fresh and salt water and would be interested in any input you fish finder owners have re: makes, models and what to look for in general. Many thanks in advance.

Been employing a HumminBird 400TX in both the chuck and the fresh for many years now. Tri-Beam, 90 degree cone. 600' Depth Capability. 4-Level Grayscale Display. 160 V x 160 H High Definition. FSTN display. Left, Right and Center Beam Fish Location. Optional Side Looking Sonar. Structure IDTM. ID+TM Fish Identification and Depth. Quick Disconnect Swivel Mount. Tru-Zoom with AutoZoom, effective at both high and low speeds, and damn tough/reliable.

Great deal on them now at: http://www.marinersmart.com/specials/special10.htm
I believe HumminBird now offers even better products, so give them a check at: http://www.humminbird.com/black.asp?ID=354
