some friends were talking about bassa fish being on the market and what it tasted like. what kind of fish is bassa? thanks
-
Short for bandsaw and is salted bass ;D.
-
It's white fleshed and can be found in the frozen fish department at Super Store.
-
tasted really close to sole but a touch firmer.... Its great for pan fry with lemon pepper or poach in a cream sauce.
-
It's Farmed Catfish-sometimes from Vietnam sometimes from the southern USA.

My fish is from singapore where bassa is quite popular. I have only ever had it as skinned fillets, I would be surprised if it turned out to be a catfish.
All I can tell you is that is is a tasty fish with frim white flesh, we actually have som in the meet keeper right now!

They are kinda catfish looking, its no wonder they sell them skinned and filleted. Largest source now iis indeed aqua culture.
