I know some people don't like BC outdoors sport fihsing, but I personally think It's a pretty decent magazine.

Wild on the Fly is not bad. The photography is quite impressive with a few worthy readings but it is still a bit too commercial like most North American magazines.

I actually prefer to read magazines from Europe. They are usually packed with information and photos, still lots of advertising but not very intrusive.... More expensive, but you get what you pay for of course. :) You will be able to find many UK magazines at Chapters.

Anyone ever read salmon and steelhead journal. I found it to be pretty good although the one thing that ticked me off about it was thay did an article on fishing the fraser in the summer and everyone was bundled up in winter jackets. C'mon guys its not that cold up here.

I find that BC Outdoors has become a bit to superficial in recent years (not enough detail), while Outdoor Canada has greatly improved to be a good read. STS is about the same as it always was while Fly Fisherman has become a real snore. All the rest are okay but not worth bying when you can read them for free at Chapters or the library for free.

You know, I compared a few of the newer BC Outdoors mags for content and detail, with copies from seven or eight years ago (on the same subjects) and the older copies I found much superior to the new format. The info was more accurate and detailed. Lots of the guys who used to write for BCO don't seem to anymore, either. I also found that I used to save my copies to keep for reference to valuable info, which I still look up; but now, I just give the copies I get (X-mas present subsription because I wouldn't waste the money) to a buddy. Nothing in them really of interest to me anymore. Shame; used to be a great mag.
