if it says its a walleye rod then it should be a fast action rod...
I don't know much about trout fishing but i do want to be the 1st to help.
Trouts are shy from thick fishinglines. you should try to keep your rig as natrual as posible... ill leave the rest to the pros in this forum ;)

Try throwing a plastic salmon egg om a tiny weight in Stokes pit, lots of small rainbows there. Im a kid to how old are you?
Didn't Stokes Pit get just about drained a while back?

yea it did,sad.....

Keep trying. You aren't the only one who hasn't caught a fish. Try a worm under a bobber or a salmon egg or some power bait. Go to your nearest fishing store and get them to set you up properly. Take your rod & reel with you. There is a new store on Imperial at McPherson. I don't know the name, but I'm sure someone on this site will provide it. Good luck.

Go to Buntzen.....cast off the dock as far as you can with a 2 foot leader, a decent amount of lead and 2 power bait eggs on a hook. sit back, and wait.

what size hook?

what size hook?
Personally I use a #9 eagle claw hook (I think).

At deer lake, use either a float with a piece of worm about 1inch long on a number 8 hook is very effective. Use light line 4-8lb max.
