Squid are known to shoot off their black ink at predators ;D.

I've seen it happen on fishing shows in Japan so I think it's ligit. They are dangerous when you get them close. The worst are the cuttle fish, big and strong and boy can they spray.

Ewe! Any experienced squid fisher would know to turn the animal away when you lift it out of the water.... We used to catch them in Australia (Hmmm calamari rings...) and it would be uncommon if the squid did not spill ink once brought to shore... But, that is one gigantic spray! :o

Did anyone see this in the news a couple of weeks ago. It was a guy fishing for salmon and ended up catching a jumbo flying squid weighing 20kg by Port Renfrew.
