I realize that most of the people on this site, are accomplished fishers. I was curious though, other than salmon, trout, and coarse fish, what other species of fish have you caught. anything exotic?
myself, i've caught bowfin and striped bass off the coast of California. Sailfish and Kajiki in the Gulf of Mexico.
locally, i've caught red irish lords, cabezons, and ratfish :P

An octopus, squid, snapper, mullet, skate, shark (dogfish...hehe), ratfish, seals, cannibalsitic ling cod, a fishing rod, puffer-fish, the list goes on...

This morning i caught a tree, a rock, a log and a cold ;D not 2 exotic.

I almost always catch rocks. ;D

They are not great fighters ;D

I don't know about not being a great fighter. Usually a rock and a log breaks my leader or dull my hooks. They are tough and usually don't budge. :P

I got to do some fishing for tarpon in florida, and hooked (and then lost) a really big tarpon while fishing for bait! Aside from a bunch of exotic fish in florida (Jack tuna, mangrove snappers and snook and other wierd fish) I got to fish a couple of times in argentina, and I caught all kinds of things like various types of catfish, and dorado, and I saw some people pull out same very large carp like fish called boga (over 50# easily).
Anyone want to fly me down there and I will show you my secret fishing spot? ;)
