Title: Bass Fishing
Post by: Colersmom on May 05, 2025, 07:30:02 PM
What are good spots to fish bass closer to Burnaby? I know Deer has some and I've heard Burnaby Lake also has some. Can anyone else provide locations?

I see you ask a lot of questions on here. You know there is a search button near the top on the right side where you can type in what you are searching for. This site has a vast amount of information for you if you only look yourself instead of always relying on someone else to do all the work for you. ;)

and on that note:

didn't use the FWR search facility, just google. Be aware some info may be quite old. Some locations may be just reports of occasional bass.

First post in almost 2 weeks.  Kind of an ignorant response.  Or leave the last sentence out, would have been better.

Burnaby lake does indeed hold bass. As for locations it depends on how far you are willing to go.

Most of the easily accessible shore locations at the east end of Burnaby Lake have had access closed to preserve shoreline habitat. I have heard that Nicomen Slough near Deroche has some nice bass as does the Sumas. Devils Lake (Stave Lake Road) near Mission  also is said to have bass. Can't confirm any of these.

The easiest way to access Burnaby lake is through the rowing dock, I've caught a couple off of there before. I know devils holds bass and some pumpkinseeds. I've also heard of some bass being caught at Sasamat......

I've fished Devil's a few times but not for a few decades. It's very deep with no shoal areas and has or had a large population of pike minnow. It's not what I'd call good bass habitat compared to Hatzig or Mill. I have also heard Davis to the east of Stave also has been seeded with bass. F&W used to stock both Devil's and Davis with cutthroat. They don't now. They often stop stocking when bass get introduced, In some cases they close such lakes to fishing so the people who introduce them illegally can't get the benefit.
