We had another group of kids out today. Fishing started out slow during low tide as there was no current. Once the current picked up around 3:30pm, the action really started. In total, we had about 10 chubs, half a dozen shiner perch, two sculpins and a few pikeminnows in the tank. Water clarity is very good now. For those who are interested, you may want to spin with a small spoon or spinner during incoming tide. It's not unusual to hook a few large pikeminnow, spring jack and bull trout this time of the year.

what bait would u use?? do u let it sit on the bottom or do u use a float..i live soo close i have to try it :D

Bait needs to be either on the bottom or suspending just above the bottom. The peamouth chub, pikeminnow are on the bottom only, while the shiner perch are everywhere from the bottom to the surface.
Bottom fishing by watching the rod tip can work, but hard to set the hook if you are not used to it. We are more successful when getting the kids into float fishing. The floats tend to indicate the bites more easily, and it usually keep them busy for a few hours.
Bait, anything will work. Shrimp will work well for sculpin, shiners and the odd pikeminnow or even flounder. Dough for chub and pikeminnow. Dough = mixture of flour, scent (peanut butter, etc) and water. Firmness is personal preference.
