easy to make one  or get one from a welding, steel shop for cheap, just 3 feet of 2 inch angle iron with a foot of tubing like pvc strapped or taped to it.hammer in the ground and all set.

M - thanks - So inside diameter should hold rod, sans reel, and then the slope on the cut is to spike it into the ground..right?   Suggested length?

ya not sure where to get angle iron then, it dosnt have to be huge as the rod CN is lending is pretty short, I replaced the eyes on ot so it will work ok, just not all that stout.A 3 or 4 foot stout pipe will work as long as you can hammer it it the sand/rocks.

I have a rod holder you could use. He's 7 years old but he's going to see Yu-Gi-Oh on Saturday. Maybe next time.

Home Depot sells angle iron.  You could also try the metal recyclers.  There is one on Mitchel Isl.  and I think its called ABC Metal Recyclers.

My rod holder consist of 4 feet of 1 1/2" angle iron sharpened to a point at the bottom. A 6 1/2" long 1 3/4" diameter pipe is welded 4" from the top. A railway spike is welded onto the back so I can hammer the rod holder into the gravel.

As Grumman has noted, Home Depot carries angle irons. Most scrap yards carry them too. Railway spikes can be found along railway tracks. Hope this help

If you can't weld the pipe to the angle iron, you can use duct tape.

or you can use three hose clamps

I made one a while back using a 4ft piece of angle iron, 1.5ft of 3" diameter black abs pipe and 2 nut tightened band clamps.  Take a hack saw and make two cuts on an angle to form a point on one end of the angle iron.  Take the same hack saw and notch one end of the abs pipe.  Fasten the abs pipe on the angle iron with the band clamps and you should have a sturdy rod holder.  The notch in the abs pipe is for the seating of your reel so your rod and reel setup doesn't shift around in the abs pipe.

Hey dead head!  Lets see your add in the B&S for rod holders.  Two short welds and a point.  Think of all the BB's you have to sell at 50c.-75c. to make up for 1 holder.  Think of the jet boat you dream about.  I'm going to make my own if you're not fast enough ;)
