Title: Flatfish colors for trout
Post by: Dale9 on August 12, 2004, 05:19:37 PM
Gonna do some trout fishing at Paska and Walloper Lakes this fall and next spring with (hopefully) my little nephews.  Fun!

My question is: what's the best color of Flatfish (or Kwikfish) to use?

Thanks.

Any other thoughts, such as best size (F3, F5?) etc., would be welcomed too.

Black with silver speckles does well for me. Another  is yellow with orange spots.

Don't pass up trolling leaches and dragonfly nymphs.

I grew up in Logan Lake and fished Paska alot, it used to have bigger (but not big) fish.  The fish there often like a flatfish or fly with yellow in it, but frog green and black with silver specs are standards for that country.  In Walloper i think just about anything works except a bare hook - no flossing allowed  ;)

Walloper is full of smaller size trout! I have had some success with a casting bobber ( bubble) and dry flys. Used to wake up early and grab several lil ones for breakfast to cook on the fire before the days fishing!!
Good luck
