Dennis...

I often bring in "gifts" and material from the USA. And everytime I have to pay unto Ceasar. The risk of putting a lower $ figure is if it gets lost, then your hooped when you clame for the insurance.....

I travel quite frequently from the US to Canada so deal with customs every so often.

The risk is the postal folks may examine the package and if there was no dollar amount listed and find a $400 CDN Ipod inside, they may give you some trouble.

Here's some customs info I found at the Canadian Gov't site:

I was looking at this post and if anybody ever bought fishing rod/reels from the US and shipped it to canada? If so, then how much tax is charged by customs?

Last time I ordered something from the states the duty came to less than $1.00 but the post office charged $5.00 for the money order . Now I have anything sent to our daughter in Florida and get it when I am down there
