Title: Some Classy Fisherman in A Gong show.
Post by: Viking_Fish_God on August 10, 2004, 05:46:35 PM
I took my 9 year old nephew fishing at Peg Leg this morning in the crowds. I hear alot of negative things on that bar about peoples behavior, But there were so many patient and understanding fisherman there to help and encourage him. :D
The fisherman I was around today are a credit to the sport.
Thanks Guys

Great to hear.  Viking_fish_god, since there are no fishing report threads at all on the Fraser for the 10th, would you please tell us how fishing was when you were there at Peg Leg?  Just want to confirm if the illegal drift nets really slow fishing down.  Thanks.

Poor fishing on both sides of the river, a few brought in before 6am then Zippo.
I had 1 spring on and off.
Last week couldnt keep them off line.
This run is in trouble :'(

I notice too that many people go out of their way to help out or be more patient when kids are fishing.

Oh yeah, it's a big deal for kids. The first experience is very important. Can set for if they'll like fishing from then on. I'm glad your nephew had a good experience.  :)

glad to hear you had a good time at peggy
it is generally good experience wise my own kids know that bar quite well  ;)
you dont need the arms of a viking to cast out at peg as the fish can sometimes end traveling quite close into the shore line
ive whatched kids out fish there dads there  :-[
just takes time to get the timing down so as to minimize the foul ups
