Title: Up to kelowna.....two questions
Post by: aquaboy24 on August 08, 2004, 04:29:18 PM
Hey dudes...heading up to Kelowna to visit some friends who live on West Bank.

Question A...they are waterfront....should I be fishing off their dock int he morning? what with?

Question B....if a guy were to stop on his way home.....maybe for some socks....with waders, but no boat....where might he have success...on a Tuesday evening?

Should I just try the Vedder for some late red spring action?

and help would be appreciated

Vince

Kelowna (Okanagan Lake) will have Rainbows and Kokanee.  Have a go, I've seen Kokanee in close this time of year , but check your reg's.  They have been closed the last few years.

answer to question A: lots of small lakes within 15 min drive, but they might be suffering from summer duldroms.

question B: no need for a boat for herrling (i hate to advertise, but someone already posted it last week anyways!)

Herrling Island has been accessible by wading across the back channel  since three weeks before the sockeye fishery opening was announced, and even then it was common knowledge to those that slayed on springs...

Approximately 30 minutes past Chilliwack. Look for sign that reads Herling Island. Follow road to river

watch out at the railway crossing just out of the tunnel under HWY 1, Vince. the trains come thru there quickly and they have the right of way.  :D

the exit for herrling island is on your LEFT SIDE as you drive east on Hwy 1. when you get to the 4 way stop, do not go straight, turn left and go down the steep hill. you will see a tunnel (small tunnel, honk your horn to alert other drivers, go thru tunnel over railroad tracks and then follow the dirt road to the river/"parking lot"

good luck.
