So we have been off the radar for a few days again, but for once it has not been fishing related. My rule on Fishing with Rod is usually to keep our personal life events private but over the years many of you have developed a relationship with us so once awhile we'd like to share our special moments with you.
Since FWR started in 2001, I've watched many young fans growing up from as early as elementary school to grown men and women. Many learned how to fish through the website, and some gained advices from me personally when it comes to career choice. Beside making me feel like a dinosaur, it has been a very rewarding process.
Dan first joined the website back when he was in high school. He was even busted one day for skipping school to go fishing by his teacher who's a friend of ours after he posted his trip on the discussion forum. ;) Beside being obsessed with fishing and living up to his forum handle "everyday", he has successfully become a fish culturist at Go Fish BC.
Two years ago I invited Dan along on a filming excursion after another colleague pulled out in the last minute. He brought his then girlfriend Kitty who had only been fishing for a couple of years. After seeing how humble and passionate she is when it comes to learning and teaching others, she has since become a key member in our video productions, and a dear friend of our family.
Last weekend, we were honoured to be a part of Kitty and Dan's wedding, and I've put together a short video to celebrate this special occasion. Please keep in mind that I normally film fish, and the music was their choice while watching this. ;)

Like Rod I have watched Dan since high school, even helped him out a bit. I am proud to see how he has turned out and happy he landed the best doe he has ever hooked :)

Congrats you 2. I've never met either of you but enjoy seeing the pics and videos of the sport you both love so much.
We used fish species for table names at our wedding years back aswell. Steelhead being the head table of course 8).
That was just about the only input I was allowed to have lol.

How time fly's by, I remember driving, many years ago from Cultus Lake early one morning to pick him up at his house to take him to the lake to fish out of Leaf Craft #2 in the annual Pikeminnow Derby with my brother in law and his grandson. They still talk about that day as Dan taught them how to catch them. I think Dan won a $100 prize for a tagged fish in one of the derbies.
The picture of them taken by the Chilliwack Progress photo journalist Jenna Haulk was featured in the Chilliwack Progress story I wrote for the derby wrap. The picture is some where, I imagine he or Rod could find it.
Actually the first time I met him as he came to a Chilliwack Vedder River Cleanup Society cleanup with a family member maybe in 2003 or so. I often wondered who this Everday chap was as he was posting here a lot in the early days of this forum
. He I think was just a teenager then.
Good memories of a fine person. All the best to Dan and Kitty as they embark on a new journey in their lives.

That's awesome, love the whole fishing theme of the wedding. Marrying a woman who likes too fish too...damn, what more can you ask for? ;D

Great video Rod, It was an awesome wedding, I was honoured to have been asked to be the photographer for the event. I have known Daniel for 9 years now. He is truly a nice person and a great friend of mine. I have known Kitty for a few years now and she is equally as nice as dan and also a great friend.

Kitty's happy because one of Dan's wedding vows was to let her have the first cast in any water they fish :D
