Title: Security and Data Breach at BCFR
Post by: Knnn on June 26, 2016, 04:34:15 PM
I checked with Rod and he was OK with me posting this.

Some of you may or may not know by now that BCFR was hacked and member usernames, passwords and email addresses are now in the public domain.

Many of you/us may use similar usernames and passwords across different forums (fishing related or not) and web sites.  Therefore if you were registered on any of the forums operated by VirticalScope.com, please consider changing your passwords and using a more disposable email address when registering on web sites and forums.

From their notice:

"Using the same password for multiple online accounts significantly increases your chances of being compromised. Even though the passwords stolen in February were hashed, we recommend that if you were using (or are currently using) your VerticalScope community password across multiple online accounts, that you change your password for such other online accounts. We encourage you to regularly review your accounts and report any suspicious or unrecognized activity immediately."
