Title: Squamish Clarity?
Post by: Kever on September 02, 2015, 11:24:32 AM
How's the visibility looking after that storm? It's been a few days since the deluge but there has been small amounts of rain every day this week. We only need about 6" to catch fish. Anyone been up there?

Great reply! Thanks blair. Looks like I'll have to wait until at least Sunday before the fish can see my bait again.

Thanks for the video. Hoping the water levels drop enough to fish friday, because I took the day off to head up.

I like to look here too

Fished from 2-6 today. Counted and had 43 to hand, 6 snagged. Water clarity is just fine guys.

Thanks for the report, its good to hear that the river has recovered so quickly.  What was the visibility?  Last time I was there it was in the 6-8 inch range.

I'm thinking of taking my novice fly fisherwoman to try this weekend before the river is closed.

Flyfished from 11-5 with the family.  Hook up almost every other cast.  Foul hooked maybe 10 out of the 50 or so hook ups.  Got our limit of clean bright fish -  1 chrome doe as a bonus.  River is closed for pink fishing Sep 7.  Get out there and enjoy the fishing.

My understanding is that there is no retention of pinks in the Squamish after Sept 7, 2015:

However, this is not the same as a fishing closure or no fishing for salmon.  Therefore you can still fish for pinks but not retain them, correct?

Does anyone have an update on the clarity in the Squamish.  Last few days have been cool and I have been wondering how long a cool period is required to see an improvement in clarity in the Squamish.  Cheersmydears.

Not sure where you saw the word bait, but thumbs up, reminders like that can never come often enough.  As witnessed on the Cap a few days ago, big gobs of roe are (apparently) not considered bait.   ::)  ???   :(   >:(   :'(

My bad, didn't mean bait. Only wool and small spoons here!

Agreed! If you're not good enough to respect the regs, you're not good enough to fish!

So, while that was a valuable diversion, how about the clarity?

To elaborate Squamish and all tribs were blown top to bottom as of last night. Daisy lake is currently brown so unlikely that the Cheakamus is going to clear up anytime soon I would imagine.
