Title: decisions, decisions

I have asked this question previously but now its decision time my engine blew last year, boat is 10 years old, engine is a 40 merc cost to replace power head approx. $5000 labor not included, purchase price of new engins is approx. $8500 your thoughts/opinions are very much appreciated.

Buy a used one for way less. Just check it out mechanically compression/ gear case etc. I just bought a 96 125 HP merc for 1400 bucks runs great!
