Title: Deer lake Burnaby
Post by: lucky on May 27, 2015, 08:16:54 PM
Stopped by today for the first time in ages to test some new oar locks, and of course I brought along a fly rod. Could not believe the amount of 5" bass I saw swimming in large schools around the lake! Wondering if anyone has had any luck catching big ones? If there isn't a large population of adults already there certainly will be soon.  On a side note I did hook a nice trout but lost it at the boat.

Last summer in the pontoon I got a few largemouth in the 8-10 inch range. Hardly monsters though it wouldnt surprise me if some lunkers are in there. Sometimes on the retrieve I'd see a school of 10-20 tiny bass a few inches long follow the lure all the way back to the boat. They are definitely in there and seemingly in pretty big numbers.

Plenty of 2-3 pound fish if you know where to look. Seen a guy get a few 4-5 pounders and some kid showed me a pic of a massive 8 pounder from last year.
