Anyone out there have experience in servicing their own reels? I just replaced the drag washers on my 6600 C4 and the drag has improved, but it still seems kind of weak.... perhaps the 12 pounds of drag is not as heavy as I would expect.... any suggestions would be appreciated!

I'd make sure there is no excess lubricant in the reel and clean the washers and its contact areas on the reel with alcohol.

so keep the drag washers free of grease, etc? It was suggested that I lightly grease them, but that would explain the slippage...thanks

Lightly oil them to keep them from drying out - no grease.
Just a small dab on your fingers and rub it onto the discs.

I heard Mike's in Abbotsford is the go to for reel servicing. Good for you for DIY though.

Hey wookie. I second the "no grease" on your carbon drag washers. I've cleaned out my Abu's on several occasions and I never grease the drag washers.

Thanks guys, and I am going to clean out the light amount of grease on the carbon fiber washers......next time I'll ask before I go to you tube lol.....
