Hey folks moving to edmonton by sherwood park just wanted to see if anyone knows any good little ponds/river in and around were one could get to n try wetting a fly line .

I lived in Edmonton for six years. As far as local fishing was concerned, the North Saskatchewan River was always good to me. I used to catch walleye, pike and goldeye on the fly. The goldeye were particularly fun on the dry fly when fishing later in the evenings.
I always found the best fishing to be from July through October. Look for deeper pools created by outside bends.

There are quite a few pothole lakes near the city that are stocked with trout. Hermitage park pond is stocked with trout and is pretty close to Sherwood Park, it's a pretty nice place to enjoy the evenings. The park also offers access to the NSR if you want to target other species.
