Thanks guys.
Yes, fishing these under the float a couple feet above bottom. I'll give bentrod a plug as he has a good article on jig fishing ...

loving the presentation ;)

Nice looking ties. Strangely, I have caught many steelhead on jigs but never on any of the colour combinations shown.

top half are my favorite color combos!
-
1/16 oz heads?
-
mostly 1/8th and a couple 1/4's if you look close enough. as for colors .. a few classic color combinations and a few others borrowed from successful fly patterns and the like ...

I have also caught many types of fish on jigs-I think your choice of colours is great. Have you ever tried painting the lead. I would if I was short floating. Not such a good idea if bottom bouncing.

If you are dead drifting jigs the head should be (mostly) hidden behind the materials.
I have had no success swinging jigs so can't comment for that case, but I have found no relation between painted, metal, or bare lead jig heads and fish hookups.
Nicely coloured jig heads are for catching fishermen :P

yes, i do have some powder painted heads as well. i typically try to match the color to the collar when i do those. the pin jigs are good too because they come with silver/gold heads which add some flash. you can tip your jigs with shrimp/prawn too for float fishing.
twitching jigs also works well especially for pressured coho as I learned this year. sometimes up/down beats horizontal presentations. :)
i do quite a bit of fly fishing (90%) but i like to float fish too, especially when i have one of my kids with me.
