Title: Mans Best Friends and Fishing
Post by: tim3500 on February 02, 2014, 06:35:48 PM
I don't post hear much but just wanted to know how many of the guys that fish  take there dogs (Best friend ) with them  . I was out on the flow today and just finished landing a nice Buck and shared the experience with the pooch (9 year old Ausi shepard ) and noticed another fellow angler with his two golden retrievers had a brief chat with him across the river seemed like Fishing and spending the day with our dogs was on par . I almost never hit the river with out him and its a way my partners find me sometimes how about some pictures of your angler pooches

Nice dog, brings back memories, I had a blue merle for 13 years. Best dog ever, highly intelligent breed. Never took mine fishing, wouldn't have been able to get him out of the water. :) I had a big pond on the farm and all you had to do was say the word "swim" and he was down in the pond waiting for me to throw a stick. Passed away in his sleep one night, buried him in a special spot he liked. Thanks Tim.

Nice dog you have there Tim. I have an American boxer and although he looks tough, heis actually the biggest whimp. He hates it when it's raining even when he has his coat on and can not stand cold weather. But he sure can find a fish, it's just too bad that those fish are always dead and he likes to eat them. He is though a great dog and loves everybody that he meets.

I have a German Shepard pup I bought in  the summer . I thought I had better get him trained for the fishing trips . He did OK for the first few trips but then started getting to close to the swinging the spoon . Then he kept chasing the hooked fish in the river . Had to tie him up for now until he gets some more training to stay back  :P .

Dead fish aren't too bad, I also had a blue heeler who loved to roll in bear chit.

Can't go wrong with a German Shepherd. Extremely loyal and protective.

Almost always take my Golden Retriever with me.  She's pretty good in that she rarely goes in the river on her own but will follow me out to bars, or paddles just downstream from me if I'm wading until she gets tired.  She likes to run through the bush and explore but always comes back to where I'm fenceposting and barks at me to move along!

I have a year and a half old Great Dane named daisy who almost always comes fishing with me. She's been fishing with me since she was 4 months and loves it.(http://i1198.photobucket.com/albums/aa441/nakagawa21/Mobile%20Uploads/image.jpg) (http://s1198.photobucket.com/user/nakagawa21/media/Mobile%20Uploads/image.jpg.html)

Ran into this nice fellow, his lady, and his awesome dogs last spring up near Lac Des Roches. New respect for what I thought were only purse dogs. This little Yorkie loved being in that boat stalking trout!

For some odd reason, mine never grew hair and he isn't as pretty as other dogs. His legs are a bit short for running in the fields, but he does love the water. He loves to eat the fish I catch and his biggest attribute is I always get lots of space whenever I take him fishing. This big bar on the Skeena was full of anglers before I arrived and 5 minutes later I had the place all to myself.

Too bad it was such a crappy day, bigblockfox.  ;D  :D

Aren't we lucky living where we do. That is a rhetorical question for those wondering about the lack of a "?".

Good Morning, nothing like bringing your best friend fishing...my best friend is Dempster I got her up in The Yukon while working there a couple of years ago. Picked her up at The Mae Bachur Animal Shelter in Whitehorse and she's been fishing with me ever since...Bummer thing about it she doesn't like the boat :( so she's just a shore dog *LOL*

She's interested in the bears...but there is fish to be caught.

Great loyal dogs, the black one (tyson) is a lab mastiff cross.
