Whats the minimum amount of drag you want from a reel for bar fishing between Chilliwack and Hope?
Im looking to buy a new reel, and not sure if I should get the model with 17lbs or if I should go one size bigger for 22lbs.
There is a 30% price increase to get the bigger reel, plus it weighs 27 ounces, up from 17. I would certainly prefer the smaller reel but dont want to spend money on something that will be inadequate.
Opinions? THanks!

I've got two Okuma Epixor EF-80 reels, perfect for barfishing. One is used and the other is new with the box and spare spool. I was going to take these to the used tackle sale at Chris' church but I'll sell now for $80 for both reels.

Still need an answer for this.
Need to know what is enough drag for bar fishing. Really don't want to overspend on this but don't want something ineffective either.
Thanks!

Need to figure out what gear I need, then convince the wife I deserve my birthday gift a month early...
But once I get that sorted for sure! None of my friends are fishermen because it's something I just took up a short time ago.

Okay I found this article online by SeaRun Tackle... in it, they list a few reels they recommend.
My problem is looking up these reels they list on the internet still doesn't seem to give me a very definitive answer to my question as they range from like 12lb drag up to 25+.
I would have guessed 12lbs of drag would be too small, but that seems to be what the Abu Garcia 7000 series and Penn 320s have?

I just got the Abu 7001i
Solid reel.

Thats got 25lbs of drag doesn't it?
The 7000i only seems to have 15 lbs... Still sufficient or not enough?

Over 500 views, and nobody has an opinion on what is a required amount of drag for bar fishing???

use an old moocher, diawa 275 reels are cheap, might only be 15lbs drag but you can palm to add more.
drag isn't as important with salmon fishing,
but Sturgeon from shore would be nice to have over 20lbs drag.
