Title: Rod names
Post by: Johnny Canuck on September 29, 2013, 12:40:54 PM
I have been thinking lately about how some people name their rod. Who here has named their rod and what is it's name?

Very unique names, they have any sort of story behind them?

Had a cheap diawa fly rod that I bought on an outing after breaking one of my rods, and I caught tons of fish with it, so I kept it forever and called it
"old blue" My buddy ended up breaking it on a chum in the squamish river years later!!

Most have several meanings.
Rusted is my primary salmon/steelhead rod, and it's usually pouring when I'm fishing with it. My joints feel a bit like the tin man on day's like this. It is also roughly a reference to the wrap colour, and at the time of the build I was frequently listening to the song:

The rhino is my personal logo.

I suck.

I dont have a collection of rods yet, so the names are pretty terrible, they are basically just a name of the parts - My cheap Zebco Horizon spinning rod is "My rod" or "Daddies Rod" while the $6 spincast I got outta walmart a few months back is "the kids rod" or "Emmas Rod"

I am about to pick up a bigger spinning outfit for myself, guess I should come up with a name for that, can't just call it "Dads big rod" lol

I never name my fishing rod. Anyone been 4H club? Never name your cow before you slaughter it. You'll cry more if it breaks!
