Good to see the pinks returning to our rivers but sad to see so many people snagging them. On the good side think of all the nutrients being put into our rivers. I filmed this yesterday.

I was at that exact spot too - and I agree with both your sentiments Chris!

Not sure if they have anything to do with the decline of the chum.
I'd rather see chum like there used to be.

definitely very cool. neat to see the males deffending their space. i was up river and was watching them hug the side of the river and it was fish after fish like a fish freeway.

Were the pinks spawning in that area?
I could see some males chasing other fish away.

Why would you say the chums are hurting, last years run was great. Remember its not even october yet. They will start coming in fast in another week or two.
Nice to see the pinks spawning i always like to introduce some fishing to people during pink year.

Yeah, that's what I thought.
The guys fishing in the video were then fishing for pinks sitting on their redds.
That is pretty low.

Was really enjoying the video until the shadow of a fisherman and his bent rod.
Some people are pretty hard up apparently.

I actually had to stop fishing this morning as the amount of pinks in the river made it very hard to avoid foul hooking fish with a spey rod. I checked out a couple more spots but could not bring myself to fish as the sight of snagger after snagger dragging fish onto the shore and then kicking them back in was starting to make me ill to my stomach. I'm not sure if I can go back for awhile...

There hasn't been a decent chum run on the Vedder in 2, maybe 3 years.
We used to have 2 retention, now it's 1 and it was closed for a year or two if I remember correctly.
Couldn't keep them off the hook back in the day.
