Been along time since I reported but worth sharing for a giggle...
Work buddy and I went to scale bar this morning against my better judgement... mostly under water, tonnes of mosquitoes as usual, and no one hooking up with fish, tempers, gear, waste, snags, bleaaaahhhhh.
Moved over to Cheddar at 10am and switched gear and got into a red on the second cast with a roe bag the size of golf balls (floated deep), didn't land it but Lot's guys getting hooked with Sockeyes and on East side of water near peach. He did mention that he observed much better sockeye catch and release handling than ever before. Good news I guess...
Lady on bike runs over some guys fishing rod left on dike, breaks tip, angry middle aged man.. we watch hilarity ensures as they argue direction of fault.
I'm going to the crossing tomorrow... which on a Sunday does make me a little nervous...
If anyone has confirmed water levels on Fraser and Vedder send me a PM, staycation time!

Didn't know fishing at Scale Bar can be that bad. None from anybody? That has got to be the worst I have heard on the opening day. How many people were fishing there? By 'underwater' what do you mean? You mean the whole bar is under water without room to stand? At this water level around 6.5m at Hope, the bar should have good gravel shore line to hold lots of people.

20 people, it was (water) much higher than previous years at same time and the bar is shorter than previous years (bar will change shape in early run off based on how much gravel will be pushed up/pulled away from my understanding, I've never looked at official water levels). No springs- like I said, I wasn't there all day, could of gotten better...
Talked to a native fisherman at a gas station in Hope, he said that there have been lots of fish- more than last year and earliar. Maybe I was on wrong side of river? I'm always worried about being towed and heard stories about parking on TransCan.
Heading to Rolly Lake to drop some worms in the water with Mom tomorrow!

If the dude's rod was laying down on the dyke, it's his fault for sure. First thing I learned as a kid was NEVER lay your rod down - ALWAYS lean it against something.

Totally! - which is why it was funny because clearly he had no one to be mad at but himself.
