Anyone on the board have an alvey shrimp pump?
Went out to pump bugs tonight and could not get any suction at all. I didn't use my pump last season, didn't go steelheading, but have used it frequently for the previous two seasons with no issues.
Can anyone think of a possible issue and or fix? I'm thinking maybe the rubber "washer" is worn on the sides and not allowing suction to form. If so anyone know if you can buy a replacement part?
Thanks in advance

did you try cranking down the "wing-nut " at the bottom ?
I made a new rubber washer out of a old wheel barrow tire.

I did. Cranked it as much as I could. Still wasn't getting suction.
Going to fiddle around with it at home.
Will keep a look out for spare rubber pieces

Rubber washer most likely dried out, soak in some water for a few hours and see if that helps.

Did you forget to clamp the hole with your thumb ?

Soak the washer in fresh water overnight. Take a pair of pliers with you to the beach because I find it takes about 10-15 holes to get the sweet spot. Also make sure you back the nut off completely and hose it out when you get home.
Hope this helps

I will give this a try. Thanks for the tip Chris

It's probably your washer. If soaking the washer don't work, you may need replacement washer. Berry's carries them.

Thanks for the info. Hopefully the soaking does the trick. Will be giving it another try in a few days

Buy a 2" Test Plug and replace the factory rubber washer system. Just re-use the steel washer from the orginal setup and you're good to go. I was able to pick up a Test Plug and Rona.

Thnks for the link. Not a bad idea to pick one up as a back up.
Going pumping tonight with the rehydrated seal. We'll see what happens
