Stopped by to visit ole Grandpa today and gave me all his old fly stuff.
Yes GOLD mine!!
Got alot of stuff but this one old reel got me wondering.
It belonged to his Dad and he gave it to him.
Its got old flyline on it and been around.
Seems like small centerpin though.
Cant find a whole lot about it, but I'm not much good with computer stuff anyways...lol
Basic search didnt result in much.
Anyways this is what I see on it.
FREEWINDE
Edgar Sealey
Ridditch England
On a small plate
Small stamp on it hard to read
Be??design No
843417 maybe
On the inside of the reel is what I'm thinking might be a date but unsure.
11/63 stamped on it.
Hopefully 50yrs old
Looks to be around 4in around.
Any info on this wouild be greatly appreciated.
Not for sale and gonna be used to keep the generations past.... proud!!
Gonna clean it up and fish it and take ole grandpa a fresh steelhead.
Thanks.
Rando.

Thanks Steely but saw that one already.
Cleaned up the reel and its spins quite nicely.
Some small centerpin I figure and not a fly reel.
Not much info to be found on it.
Gonna take it out and fish with it.
3 generations of karma has to be good ;D
Any info much appreciated,
Thanks

How about a picture of front and back.

Sorry about pics.
My camera is dead at the moment.
See if I can get something over the next few days.So busy this week.
Did see a small JWY stamped on the inner spool after closer examination though.
From what I can dig up its made by JW Young for Edgar Sealey in 50's or 60's, as they built reels for a alot of companies back then.
Still wondering about that maybe date stamp 11/63 on inner main housing. Is it Nov 1963???
Still searching when i can.
Thanks
Rando
