Hey fellow anglers!
With the Thompson River once again in the news this fall, we would like to announce:
The 2012 Steelhead Society of BC Pub Night Fundraiser is November 29th!
This year, the SSBC is looking at a project on rehabilitating the Bonaparte (an important steelhead spawning tributary to the Thompson river). It will be a similar sort of deal as last year's Spius creek rehabilitation project regarding habitat restoration....
Location is Micky's Pub (170 Golden Drive, Coquitlam). This allows easier access for folks from the sunny side of the Fraser to attend...
There will be a live auction, silent auction, swag, and much more.
Tickets are only $20, and that includes a burger and a beer! Beyond the prizes, food, and drinks, this is really a great opportunity to socialize with a dedicated group of steelheaders. If you aren't a SSBC member, there will be membership forms available.
Once again we are asking concerned anglers to dig deep into their wallets and buck up. Its pretty painfully clear that federal and provincial governments could care less about our Thompson River steelhead resource so its up to grass roots initiatives like this, to mitigate the damage from habitat loss and brutally timed commercial salmon fisheries etc.

Here is the poster for this year's big event! ;D

I'll see everyone there.
Can't wait to snag some goodies in the auction. Helping out a good cause sure is a good excuse to buy more gear ;D

Agreed! Nothing like a good excuse to boost the gear count!
Come say hi when you get there, Sterling.

I thought I would post a little pre-auction teaser for all you centerpin fans out there. Junior managed to talk me into parting with a very special blank for the fundraiser. I just finished building it and it turned out pretty sweet. This blank hasn't been around for decades and when it was made, it was very limited. It's a Sage 4106LLB. These were part of a "light line" series that was arguably ahead of it's time. I have built it in the traditional style with a short butt and downlocking seat. Because this blank was part of my working collection when I was designing rods for Sage, it does not have the Sage screenprint on it. I have hand written the make and model. And BTW, it's brown. See you Thursday!

There will be a minimum bid on these offerings.http://www.feathersmc.com/images//imageviewer/H_L_harry.jpg (http://www.feathersmc.com/images//imageviewer/H_L_harry.jpg)

Its been a hectic month since we decided to run with this fundraiser and what a true success last night was.
Many thanks going out to all who donated their time, items and trips and to those who came and showed support. Even those who weren't SSBC members and simply came out to socialize ended up contributing. The venue, food, and service all earned high marks.
Last years bench mark was surpassed by a solid margin.
Everyone from old Thompson hands to folks who have never even caught a steelhead let alone a Thompson steelhead came together to make this habitat rehabilitation project a reality.
Thanks again.

Really ?
funny. you're always preaching about uniting fishermen on all the forums, yet the only person always being negative and trolling is YOU! ya ya u dump poop into rivers to help steelhead, but u sure have no idea how to make more friends for the rivers.
