Title: Chilliwack River, September 1st 2012
Post by: CohoJake on September 03, 2012, 10:08:48 PM
Wow, that's a low river.  I don't remember ever seeing it this low.  My dad and I fished from the top down (with no out of the way places since I had my wife's new car and she would kill me if it got vandalized).  No signs of good fish at the cement slab (I imagined I saw some old red springs, but I can't be sure).  My dad thinks he saw an 18 inch jack jump, but didn't get a good look at what it really was.

Nothing mid river, nothing below the crossing.  A fair number of people fishing (half of them seemed to be trout fishing). Looks like the soonest rain in the forecast is after next weekend, so maybe I'll be back in 2 weeks.

Great day to be out on the river nonetheless!  Thanks for the report.

The rain can stay away for ever if it keeps the masses away :).  Enjoyed many hours of peaceful fishing on the vedder this long weekend.

I was out on the 3rd. Many sockeye jumping and thrashing under the CPR bridge. Got some nice dollies in mid river, around two pounds. Also fished the concrete slab and my buddy hooked a nice spring jack that popped the hook on the shore. Maybe it was the same one your dad saw :P lol. Even if the fish arent yet still some fun to be had in the early season. The empty river is a blessing.
