Hi all. I am heading to Abbotsford this coming Friday for a family event and have some free time to fish during Saturday morning. ::) I was hoping to hit the Fraser or maybe the Vedder, something relatively close. I am very familiar with river fishing and have the appropriate gear. I would like to target either salmon or sturgeon and am just wondering what my options would be around this time. Not looking for anybodies "secret spot" just looking for an accessible bar i can fish at as I am not very familiar with the mid-lower Fraser area.
any info is appreciated! ;D

There's a bar to fish from in a small park under the mission bridge on the abbotsford side. Should be able to bar fish for springs there and maybe try for sturgeon too.

remember...fishing west of the bridge is salt water!!

thanks, i"ll give it a shot ;)

I live in abby and im wondering the same. Are there still red springs in vedder? Bar fishing close to the bridge is possible.. Walter street has a nice non tidal bar though. Then theres mill lake.. Albert dyck and chadsey with a nice hike (never been there). Ive been exploring mission lately as well

The boundary for tidal and fresh is the train bridge NOT the highway bridge

The Mission Bridge Bar is "walk in" only, the campground and vehicle access is closed until Dec while they are doing seismic work to the bridge. It's kind of noisy right now because they are pile driving.

Still should be some spots to fish from if you park and then walk east of the train bridge along the dyke... Not sure if the spots are any good?

there are nice spots with a short walk. After exploring a bit I prefer to park more to the east on matsqui trail.
