Title: Carp tackle in LML...???
Post by: JAwrey on August 30, 2011, 03:59:54 PM

Does such a thing exist?  I have a carp pond (of sorts) near my house and I wanted to get a look at some carp tackle, maybe get some bait...does anybody know of anything?  Even somebody who carp fishes would be a great help!

Rodney fishes for them  ;) - I think he has an article "golden ghost" - do a search and you will find it.

Sorry just realized you were asking for tackle - I'm sure someone here will know for sure.

I used to fish for them in Ontario and caught lots of them.  All I ever used was a medium action spinning outfit ( 6-15lb) rod will do.  I remember using 8-10lb test mono and don't remember breaking many fish off and some carp get quite large.  Start with that and some doughballs ( white bread remove crust and shape it around hook) and still fish on the bottom provided it's not too weedy.  That's the bare bones method to carp fishing that I used to use and it works well, carp fishing has since become pretty sophisticated these days but I wouldn't worry about that just yet.
