Title: my dilemma: go fishing or stay for the cup celebration
Post by: andrew5 on June 08, 2011, 03:09:23 PM
Okay guys, I want to know what you would do in my shoes. Here's the scenario:

I committed to go up to Lytton to meet a fishing buddy (from Kamloops) for three days of sturgeon fishing this weekend. Currently, the Canucks are in a historic cup run, and if they win tonight, they stand to win the cup here in Vancouver on Friday. Needless to say, this coming Friday could be the biggest celebration this city has ever seen (even bigger than the olympics).

Im a huge hockey fan, but was really looking forward to this weekend, and anything less than a possible cup hoisting and there would be no way in hell i would be passing up this weekend. I know my buddy is really looking forward to me coming up, and he has already booked time off work, and would be solo there. Is a Canucks Stanley cup winning possibility a reasonable Veto to not go up to Lytton?

what the hell do I do?!

Andrew

if the Canucks lose tonight, then I will go up, because they won't be able to win it until Monday, but if they win tonight, then there's the possibility for the home ice win on Friday. If they win on Friday night, then I just can't see heading up to Lytton, but man, it;s so hard to say no!

I'm with Dion, go up after the celebration, like in the early hours of saturday morning.

Clearly you haven't seen the celebrations down town... it's 5 times more insane than the olympics. It's beyond a hockey game at this point... it's Vancouver history. You won't find a guy more keen than me to go fishing (have gone and learned the hard way bymyself over the last few years), but this is the first time in 17 years this has happened, and the first time that I can enjoy it with a beer in my hand!

If your a die hard fan like me you want to be down here IF they win it all. So for games 5-7 you will be down here. This franchise is 40 yeas old, no cup and this is as close as it gets. We may not get another chance for another 17 years. GO CANUCKS GO!!!

well i don't know whether to thank Luongo for solving the dilemma (definitely going Friday morning), or put a hit on him for making the whole city sweat like this... but game 5 will be watched in Lilloet (said it was Lytton by accident). Anyone have any pointers for shore fising for Sturgeon in mid June in Lillooet?

Thanks for the input guys!

Maybe Christie Clarke shouldn't have lit the cauldron after all. I was thinking that was a bit premature as well.... Oh well, like people have said here... plenty of time to go fishing now! hope you all get a chance as well this weekend. looks like good weather ahead! If anyone's planning on being up around lilooet, let me know!
