just wondering if anyone out there use this method of fishing or is into tenkara fishing, maybe you could give me the pros and cons on this type fishing method .thanxs :)

Never heard of it before, so looked it up. http://www.tenkarausa.com/video.php and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LGshAotMzng
Looks interesting, though not a type of fishing that would hold much interest for me. Whatever floats your boat though.

I've seen it used on the local lakes. Can be productive in the hands of someone who knows what they're doing.

i have seen this done for the small coarse fish in the tidal fraser. it would be fun for carp...

Yes, it reminded me of the british tournaments for course fish you see on the fishing network.

Darryl at Freds Custom Tackle, Vedder Crossing, is very knowledgable on tenkara. Sold me beauty rod which I have not used yet :(

I am intrigued by this ancient method of fishing.
As a salmon fisherman, I am kind of wondering, "Would it be possible?"
I know there are salmon in Japan, including all the five Pacific salmon we have in BC.
Would they have catched salmon using this method in the old days before Daiwa and Shimano reels?
In the video, it was mostly small river trout, but would it be possible to go after the big boys with a larger tenkara rod?
Just thinking about the possibilities makes me very excited!

Fly fisher, that was one cool video!
I think it was one of the most exciting fishing video I have seen lately.
The rod he was using looked more than 30 feet.
Can't imagine how much pressure would be put on the angler due to leverage effect fighting a large steelie
I guess this is something some of us could shoot for in our life. ;D
Also, no hatchery fish up where the guy was fishing. -- All wild.
