Can you tell me what happens to the fish caught in the test boats. i see 50,000 in 6 sets in johnstone,this boat has taken over 200,000 sockeye so far.i dident add up all the test boats but must be over 500,000 fish.

I'm not sure about now, but in the past the fish were sold commercially with the revenues going towards the operating budget of the Pacific Salmon Commission.

They are all released alive.
The purse is not pulled in tightly. Once it's balled, open a side and fish are counted out.
A number are kept for scale and DNA analysis, so the PSC and DFO have an idea of what stocks are swimming past

Maybe more of the commercial fleet should be practising "catch and release" too. ;D
