Title: What's fishing around Vancouver Island
Post by: eric80 on September 05, 2009, 09:40:34 PM
Got a new net, skipper and next week off
Where are the chinook?
I'm planning on taking a cruise on BC Ferries over to the island.
Thinking Port Alberni area if the fishare there. Otherwise southern island.
Have a 14' Whaler so heading out to the salmon highway not an option.
Have any of you heard any reports of late?
I've been checking Rod's fishing reports but many our out of date.
cheers

I'd give island outfitters in vic. a call.

My brother in law just got back from ucluelet, did very well, but they were 10 miles out.

The French Creek area has been producing lots of fish lately.  Either directly out in front of the FC Marina, or you could head north a little bit and fish the mouth of the Little Qualicum, or Big Qualicum rivers if you don't mind trolling amongst several other boats..
