Title: Gold and Silver plated blades.
Post by: Sterling C on October 22, 2008, 12:43:28 PM
I've been looking into tracking down some genuine gold and silver plates colorado blades. Since Pentac is no longer around does anyone know of another good source?

I've found these ones at cabelas:

http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/product/standard-item.jsp?id=0011064310027a&_requestid=79868 (http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/product/standard-item.jsp?id=0011064310027a&_requestid=79868)

Not sure if they're any good or not though. Anyone have any experience with these blades? Or can anyone point me in the direction of another quality source?

It seems that pen-tac is back in business, but I'm not sure if they're making colorado blades.
Check them out at www.pen-tac.com

Gibbs has offered such a product for many years. Any tackle store could order you bulk blades or just refit the factory made ones.

Berrys Bait & Tackle has a good selection of blades. They have silver plate, gold plate, and 50/50 plate. They are in Colorado and French styles.

Just remember.
There are blades and then there blades worth fishing. ;)
Anyone thinking of bulk might want to check out The Worth Company.
Being in the US and with our dollar in the tank it wont be cheap.

It looks like luremaking.com and worth company only make gold plated blades, no silver  :'(

I think I'll give those cabellas blades a go. Unfortunately local Vancouver sources aren't an option for me right now.

Good point and Worth is an excellent source of Blades.

Pen Tac is now out of California and has what you want but their service charges are brutal :o-I doubt I'd ever use them again.

Another excellent source is Stamina http://www.upnorthoutdoors.com/stamina/ all kinds of choice and service fees are low/service is fast.

Sterling,

I just ordered a bunch of Pen-Tac spoons and French Blades. They have gold, silver, 50/50, copper and others. They are great lures and have already caught me a couple coho. Phone down there and talk to Sarah. She's great to deal with. I tried getting Pen-Tac to supply the local tackle stores but the terms were just unreasonable, although that might change soon.
