Left North Van about 6:30 am today headed for the Vedder. Went to the flow on the east side just below the KW Bridge. Water was up significantly from last week. Only one very small island out of the water. The water was very silty. Walking out to the island in 12" of water could not see the bottom. About one dozen guys fishing that stretch and in 1 1/2 hours did not see one bite. >:(
About 10:00 decided to head over to the Stave. Lots of fish in the water. Hit into 3 fish on my first 4 casts. Landed 2 during the day. Everyone was having a turn at catching a fish. Mostly chums. Mine were bucks that we quite deteriorated so no roe today.
Anyone know why the changes were made to the toilet bowl. Hope it makes the area smell better later in the year.

The toilet bowl was changed to improve fish habitat. They also made the spawning channel deeper to help protect the reds during low water.

I went to the Vedder today. The water was quite silty when I arrived but cleared somewhat as the day went on. I fished a run above Tamihi to start...hooked a spring and a chum. Moved down to Tamihi and after trying a couple of spots with no success I found a nice slot in tight to shore. I could see quite a few fish moving through. Hooked a spring, a few chum and a couple of coho, but unfortunately the only ones I landed were the chum.
Not the best day for water conditions, but it appears quite a few fish moving. The next few days should be good as the water comes down and clears.
