Title: Chehalis land slide
Post by: troutbreath on December 07, 2007, 10:44:05 PM
Saw the news and there was one heck of a landslide onto the lake. :o Swept the campsite across the lake. Looks like no one was hurt. I have seen another rock avalanche by Statlu that was pretty impressive. Might affect the areas below/downstream on the Chehalis.

WOW !  :o :o  Mass wasting, can strike any slope at any time. Treed or not.........

Hope those logs don't jam up the outflow, that could be a doozie waiting to happen.

Mother nature can strike at anytime. Must have been a nice mini - Tsunami  :o

That would have been VERY cool to see (from far enough away)

Wow.

Has anyone been up to the river after the slide ? I was going to go fish the canyon around christmas. But I don't want to drive for a hour then hike, just to find the canyons plugged with logs and debris! :o

The canyon has not been affected by the slide so far. It happened at the top of the lake, so most of the debris is a ways away. There is talk of building a log boom to hold all the debris in the lake. I think you will be fine to drive out and fish the canyon FB.

Thanks for the reply, but with all the heavy rain and snow forecast for this week. I think my plans for going fishing are shot.  :'(
