had the pleasure of heading to the island for almost a week. limited out on the stamp both days and got skunked in comox on the beach this morning. on the stamp saw schools of coho swimming by with a few springs intermixed. springs hadnt quite showed in large numbers yet. heard of only one spring being caught in the area we were in. loved the island, good to get away from my usual spots. first day on the stamp got a big wild male (14lbs) and smaller hatchery female (8lbs). second day got another decent hatchery male and a nice chrome wild female. alot of hookups during the day in just a gorgeous setting. all fish accept one were absolute chrome. on the last day my male had just a touch of color but still very fresh fish...
First stamp hatchery female

Nice report and hos. the stamp should be packed with springs but they got hit hard. Oh ya what did you get them on?

Thanks for the report, Hopefully I will be able to hit the stamp once before steelies start to role in. Not that thats a bad thing :)
ps. For some reason I cant see the pics ???

Thanks for the report and some nice coho. The Stamp run of coho used to be a large run, and the red springs were usually ahead of the coho. Surprised to hear that very few springs are around.

Damn nice fish, must have been a blast on the fly.. ;D

I've always done well for springs in the 3rd week of September.

beautiful pics!

where we were fishing was close to the area where it is closed and you could see a ton of springs boiling out of the water, along with coho. i think some rain might bring the water up and convince them to move up river. anytime we saw fish moving the springs were flying through faster than the coho. water was quite shallow i fished up river as well and saw some dead spring carcasses laying around.
