A beautifull morning,I arrived at the river at first light and no one was there!!... even better! Lots of jacks and pinks where I was fishing, I hooked two chrome jacks on roe and two on a fly. Also got some pinks on a blue fox. A young guy fishing near me later managed to wrap his line around a nice 25lb spring, the fish wasn't hooked but somehow it got tangled in his 2ft leader. it was released to swim another day.

Good times, I was also fishing that stretch of river today. I walked up river and couldnt find many fresh fish, but when I came back down and fished the pool we got into some really fresh pinks on the fly, saw some pretty big schools just cruising about. When I got there the fellows that lassoed the spring were just leaving, they told me they let it go, but they could have kept it because it wasnt foul hooked as there wasnt a hook in it ??? Im pretty sure roping springs in not allowed. There were a bunch of youngsters that got into a big white at a spot up river I was fishing mid day.

Haha... I see you people have picked up some of our slangs. ;D

gwai -lo = big brother?/ big boss?
-
Well, you need to brush up on your HK cinema...
"gwai-lo" is the cantonese and mandarin slang for caucasian person....its not particularily polite but used often. I think it translates directly into "foreign devil".
Big Brother....or "Dai-lo" is a term used to describe the oldest son in a family (hence big brother)....it has been adopted by the triads (asian street gangs) to describe their "big boss"
OK Chinese slang lesson now over....please return to your regular programming......
Note: I'm Japanese...so maybe I'm wrong here....

One of my Chinese friends told me its means "white devil". So I thought White Devils fishing comment was funny. I think when we learn and laugh about different ethnic terms, its one step to ending racism. Gwai -lo just cracks me up.
