Just wondering if anybody has seen or caught any spring in the Vedder? When do they typically arrive? My dad is planning a trip to the coast and I thought we could head out and fight a few fish ... I want to give a shot with my fly rod.

DS is right. Those springs could be annoying which u r fishing for coho at the Vedder in October though. :) I remember how hot it was for spring fishing after the first rain in october last year at the Chedder!

And white springs on the fly.... wow, sure exciting even to think of it. Just bring spare reel and rod just in case... ;D

you'd need a 9 wt though to properly play those fish... I normally break them off. They'd snap my 7wt like a twig if they wanted to!

Looking fwd to that, springs are a fun fish.

when the river rises. the jacks pinks and cohos are slowly making it but still low for them, when it comes up about a foot ur gonna have a good number of fish and they'll be spread out everywhere.

Cohos and springs are now in the river. If you are going to flyfish for the springs, bring a nine weight rod, and hang on tight.

Usually around Thanksgiving there is plenty to go around. But yes.. a bump of rain and those big beasts will start heading in. Plenty of Jacks in the lower river area though.
good luck!
