Went out for the first trip since april and the water was the same as then, pretty high but clear up top and 3-4 ft vis below the ranger. Winter steel had the first fish on but lost it pretty fast, a few casts later he had another on and it fought hard and ran downstream, we chased it by passing the rod back and forth to get around trees and just as we were close to tailing it, it spat the hook. W.S. was useing roe and I had shrimp so I switched over and soon enough had a fish on as well. It fought hard for quite a while just pulling and head shaking, when I finally got it to shore we were surprised that it was a big 9lb sockeye! That was a surprise because the socks usually fight different, often going airborne alot, so it fooled us totally. After that the fish moved on and we hooked no more.

Thanks for the report BB, I think i may of saw you, were you fishing upper?

Damn sounds awsome, Im guessing you fished in the rain most of the day? What Kind of water did you find them holding in, Did you find it difficult to find nice water with the water still high, or has it dropped alot since last week.

Was out as well on saturday with fishfreak, thrasher and fishinaddict and the weather was really nice. Lots of nice water around. Freak and I each got into one and lost them both. The usual holes are now easy to find.

was up at the river tonight and a huge chunk of the clay bank came down with a loud BOOM and the viz went to crap after that
-
u sure? any body confirming this?

u sure? any body confirming this?
am I sure? no I'm lying....yes I'm sure, I was there. Fishing, loud BOOM as a huge portion of the bank slammed into the river. We had already fished down low and the viz was decent. We went up and fished for a while and went back down to end the night after the bank had dumped into the river and the viz had definitely changed.
I'm not saying that it is not fishable today, I was merely noting that it went sour last night after that happened.
there, it's confirmed

Winter Steel and I watched a slide happen this winter....it was a small one but we could see the wall of dirty water flow down stream...we broke our rods down and went home after that :P
-
Thrasher....was that the vedder clay bank you saw go...be nice to know how high up the dirty starts???
-
we were just below the cement slab area. Huge clay wall fell just West of us, downriver. It was so loud, I thought there was a car wreck up on the road behind us.
I am not overly familiar with all the local names for the holes, just familiar with the flows
sorry, if this is rather vague

No thats perfect...that the ranger slide...the old ranger use to be a VERY productive meat hole. 95% of the river went left from where you were...now most goes left right into that clay bank. The slide sucks...it dirties 85-90% of the vedder, its sooo high up. I looked at it in early July and I could tell that next high water, a big chunk was going in...maybe when it recedes it will clear now that a big chunk has dropped in.
