Hey boys, i'm goin to buy a new reel (got a job! ;D )And i'm looking into the culcutta section of the reel market. What is better, the TE series B?
-
TE means TOP END! B means BOTTOM! just kidding 8)...but the TE's are the better of the two, I've used the 400b's a bit and I like them, never have had a chance to chuck some lead with a TE yet though....
Mike <"))))))><

The TE's are where it is at in the Shimano line up, but they are also about $500!! You can find used ones much cheaper though. I have had one for 3 years, it is the best reel I have used yet!! ;)

i've used a 400 not B or TE it works really well. I heard that the old plain ones are better than the new ones, is it true? ??? I got a job and i got connections so i get %50 everything at my local fishing shop! ;D

I say, go get yourself a Daiwa Luna, its just as good as a TE but cost less... The only one that really worth the money on the Shimano line is the 200 GTTE.

The best level wind ever made was the shimano bantam 50, period. Your best bet would be to go look for one of these reels on ebay. You will never find a better reel anywhere.

I'm an abu lover so i am moving out of my field into another! :-[ I love the C3 series.

Havent tried the TE but i sure love my little Calcutta 250
Just right for Steelhead and Coho and balances nicely on the 3106.
On my 3 rd or 4th year with it and its worked flawlessly.
Picked it up on ebay for $150.00 as new.

Nice thing about the TE is that oversized side casing allows for large drag washers...larger drag washer=smoother and stronger drag.
I fish a calcutta conquest 200 and 400 (200 on the 9' rod and the 400 on my 3113)...I also have a older 400 and I can tell you the conquest and probably the TE are way better.
