Title: Anyone catch steelies with spin and glo lately?
Post by: steelieman on February 21, 2007, 08:10:23 PM
I remembered when I started steelhead fishing many years ago, spin and glo of different colours work like wonder. I used black and silver, green, red and orange. I have not seen anyone using them lately and when I do try, it doesn't seem to work anymore.

I've been trying small ones at the top of my worms..but my success with them has been nil so far...but I can't see why they wouldn't hammer them if their hitting spoons etc.

Couple of seasons ago I was fishing the Bryan Williams Run at the Capilano. There were two Top Rods there float fishing roe. On my second cast I hooked a steelhead on an #8 orange spin n'glo. Needless to say the two guys were pissed off.

River walker, what does a cheeter look like?  Could you describe it or have a photo?  Thanks.

Like i said i'm a young kid but i've been taught all the old school tricks. So i still use them, and have succes. No new BS for me, like sulfide cures and colouring and all the new gadgets, by october 1 i'm back to fishing the old basics and finished trying out the new garbage!

at one time stuff like spin n glows and cheeters and gooey bobs were the new garbage and they can all be very effective,it all depends on what your personal preferance is. :)
