Title: My New Toy :)
Post by: TrophyHunter on January 03, 2007, 02:34:41 PM
Well after many months of asking questions and deliberating and thinking and dreaming I got my choice down to two reels, the Islander Steelheader and the Kingfisher Bearing.. well I just picked up my new reel and I must say I think I made a good choice !!!!
I am a very happy boy right now  ;D ;D ;D ;D

TRick,

Did you buy the last one at Dave's shop?

Yes, that was the final detail for me .. I got the old price if I waited for the new batch it was almost $100 more

sweet looking reel Rick! Id love to have one of those in my collection one day, I also recieved a late Christmas present in the mail today, a Arnold Kingpin centrepin. Its a nasty addiction collecting centrepins, might as well be collecting Faberge eggs for the price of some of them :o

TRick,

Did you buy the last one at Dave's shop?

You mean he didn't buy it on Ebay for $74?

Very nice Rick. I guess you will be using it for the derby. Oh and by the way this is a far better discusion about a purchase then the one about shoes  ;D ;D .

Xgolfman,

"ahhh good for you...I had that one and it was really smooth..ohhhh the birds nests aren't that bad either...."  You had the bushing version.... different reel, the bearing Kingfisher just came out.  If you had birds nest with the bushing Kingfisher, then I imagine it would be worse with this reel.  Are you gonna buy this one to try it out or are you just going to leave it alone altogether. ;) ;D

bushings one...no I really liked mine but it buggered up my wrist..or I should say golfing did and the C.P. made it worse...So, i'm a fly and gear guy...birds nest weren't bad at all...Actually for all I heard about how tough they are to fish, they aren't...just the upstream casting on the first couple trips.. :D

Holding the two of them in my hands, the Milner felt lighter and the finish seemed nicer, for just a lil more $$ it seemed to be the right choice, plus the fact that there aren't that many out there and it is a couple of month wait for the next batch I thought I had better snap the last one up :)
