Title: a day steelheadin leads to tyin the knot
Post by: allwaysfishin on December 21, 2006, 02:03:03 PM: Well, after many years of seeking out the perfect gal..... I've come pretty darn close. Last year I met this gal, over the internet of all places. We set a date to meet but things got in the way. I talked to her the day after and told her i was going fishing and she says.... can i come with you? I thought to myself... is this girl nuts? It's January 4th, and she doesn't fish. Well, I showed up at her place at 6:00 a.m., Jan. 5th, it's cold, it's raining...... this would be an interesting day. This was our first in person meeting and conversation came easy on the drive to the river. We stopped in at a few of my usual haunts on the upper, and I fished, in the rain, with her at my side , chattin and laughin. I kept thinkin, this girl ain't gonna call me again hehehe.
Well, it's been just shy of a year, she's come on several fishin trips, though she is a city slicker at heart, she even came hunting AND helped me drag out a monster buck.... with no complaints. She understands and supports my fanatical need to hunt and fish AND just cleaned out the 3rd bedroom in our house so I can have it as my hunting and fishing room.....

So, long story short, on the 5th of January '07, I'm gonna give her an engagement ring and set a date that doesn't interfere with fishing primetime :D . She's already said yes.... just gotta deal with the formalities.

I took my wife fishing shortly after we met, and I can say that she was not a big fan of the vedder river (even though she got 2 pinks in like 20 minutes), but now we go out a few times a year and fish for rising cutties or brookies, and she loves it. Fishing unites the world :P

Hope she doesn't read FWR or your surpise will be out!
