In your opinion What is your ideal size and color for your roe bags?
If you can post some pics.

Depends on location, fish species, and the conditions of the river. Low and clear a dime size roebag, a bit dirty and a bit high a quarter to loonie size roebag. I like orange and red roebags but to me color is not that important, Orange is the usual color bag for me.

My preference is pink.

In Feb 2006, I went to the Stamp River and used a Guide while Steelheading. He used pink mesh for his roe bags. About the size of a nickel.
I asked if it made a difference about colour, especially when targeting salmon. There are 2 colours he uses for both Steelhead and Salmon; Red or Pink. He uses no wool on the hook, just the roe bag.

I never use roe bags. If you get a good firm cure, the roe should hold together well.

when fishing for river chinooks up north, I like a bag the size of a golf ball. Works good in the colored water. Melnack makes pre cut squares in a size about 5" x 5". Pink or orange mesh work well.

Mt favorite color is orange then red and usually the size of a dime to a quater. Roe bags will definatly last longer in the water then roe no matter how well it is cured. And roe bags are definatly less messy then roe. Just look at some of the waders of the guys that use just roe and compare them to a guy that is using roe bags and you will see why some people preferr roe bags.

All I do is pre-cut my roe prior to hitting the river. I then put a light coat of borax over them. They are clean and easy to use this way. When the roe has milked out, I grab a new chunk. No used bags to deal with.
