Well, I figured that I would start a new thread for this. The new DNE floats will be available sometime next week, they come in 4 sizes and an assortment of colors. I have been testing a proto-type one for a little while now and I am really impressed by it. I like the Stream lined look which allows for rather accurate casting and is seem to sit just right in the water. I will be using some again come the weekend, but so far I like them and they will be the new choice for me in floats this year. They should come in a really nice price point. DNE is also coming out with some really nice straight through balsa's. :o :) They have an incredible finish on them and should be around the price of a regular balsa from what I was told. They are awesome. I will definitely be picking up some of those as well.
Here is a pic of the test subject. Hope you like. :)

Am in in no way affiliated with DNE, I was just lucky enough to get one to test out. Thanks Daniel for that and you can come fishing with me any time, just drop me a line!! :)
-
Where would they be available ?
-
Well hopefully, Daniel will come on here and let us know. I will more than likely be getting mine from Daniel. But I know they will be available at Gone-Fishin in Surrey. :)
-
Are those foam ones wrap around? Looks very interesting. I like the design of them and if the foam ones are the same price or a bit more than the Gibbs I am all over it.
-
Not sure if they come in wrap arounds. I personally don't like wraps arounds, to much wear on the line I think. But they just might come in at around the price of the Foam floats. Let's hope they do. ;)
-
Those look sweet, if they can sell for half the price of drenans im happy! :)
-
nice looking float i'll have to get my hands on that :)

What price would that be?
-
Thanks for posting the pic of them. Is DNE a local company?
-
Looks like more choice for float fishermen this year. Noticed on the basic title page for this site that there is a new Stealth float out on the market that sells for half the price of a Drennan. Think I will pick up some of the DNE and the Stealth floats and give them a try.
-
I tried the new stealth floats today , they are ok, there very sensitive, but you use sergical tubling on the top and bottom wich hold the line, the line just lays down the side of the float
I have been fishing balsa (and will continue to) for the last three years. The use air line tubing (for fish tanks) on the top and bottom which causes the line to go down the side. I have not noticed any difference in the way the float sits or what not. Also, a big benefit to this system is you can take the float of while bushwacking or, change float sizes without having to replace all of your gear. One last benefit to the balsa style floats is that they can be bounced off a rock or two and not break. I have one fishing partner who used the same float for the better part of the steelhead season last year :).
-
Fishfreak, was that you just outside RFT right before 6am? I wasn't sure. :)
I'm giving away Stealth floats to subscribers. ;D Stay tuned. ;D

Both stealth and dne floats avalible at riverside fly and tackle.
-
any chance the bottom color will be different???? Don't know if I'd want a big whittie on clear water... 8)

Yes, they come in different colors. I used the white one and still hook some decent fish in clear water. It isn't that bad I don't think, but I would still myself go for the green or grey!! ;D
-
i like the the look of the stealth although does it come in any bigger sizes?
-
Hmmm, with the Stealth half the price, Drennan may have to lower to compete. :D I will definitely buy some Stealths for steelhead.
-
Yeah I think grey or green would be excellent..
-
Someone please hook me up if you can your hands on them! :)

The New DDNE floats are in!! ;D I picked up about $50's worth. In that I was able to get some straight thru balsas as well!! Man these are some nice looking floats and I will get the chance to try them out before the Clean-up on Sunday!! The Foam versions of the Straight thru are white bottomed, with now new colors on top, so I picked up a selection of colors in the 25gram and 30gram versions!! ;D Also got some other nice gear to give a try!! Look out Coho, Daddy has some new toys!! ;D
-
Where did you pick them up and how much ?
-
At Gone Fishin on 104th ave, just off King George! The foam ones were $1.89 and the Balsas were $5.09! A decent deal considering what they are!! ;)
-
Riverside Fly & Tackle has them too. 604-944-2479 Just off the Lougheed Highway at Shaugnessy street in PoCo.
-
ill be picking some stealth floats up tomorrow aaron ;)
-
Freds tackle sold out stealth float this afternoon. ;)

Looks like lots of floats to find this year then. ;D ;D Found my first drennan today.
-
the new dne and stealth floats are great alternatives. just goes to show you how big a rip off drennan floats really are, on top of that, you need to buy bobber stoppers to use them effectively. :P
-
just picked up some new DNE's and i think their great can't wait to try them ;)
-
I just use a tooth pick in my drennen.

Tooth pic??? Doesn't matter I also got asome real nice DNE float stoppers for the floats as well!! ;)
-
3 Vets in Vancouver will be bringing in some Stealth floats. Should be in next week. Looking forward to pick up a couple and give it a try.
-
i am stocking stealth floats at steveston marine as well. I have fished balsa floats in the same general style of the stealth for many years now. I like em because i can change the size of my float to match specific run conditions without cutting and re tying , just pop off the upper and lower tubes and insert a different float. A very nice and efficient concept. pricing on the stealths will be the same here as any other store you find them in.

All of our 40 Plus fish today were hooked using the New DNE floats. I was using a Balsa Straight thru, man are they sensitive and sit perfect in the water. ;) Merc and Rick were using the foam ones and they seem to like them a lot as well!! ;D
-
I've got to get me some.

40 plus ??? I thought between the 3 of you guys you got maybe half that or maybe less ;) the numbers keep growing from post to post ;D
Apparenlty you didn't read the whole post or you just can't add!! ::) what does 12 in the morning and 30+ in the afternoon work out to smart guy? Keep it up and I may never teach you how to catch fish!! ;D

So no problem with the white on the bottom of um huh?....I've got a stealth on now as I was worried about that...So apparently the low clear conditions are fine with these then??? what do the balsa's look like? haven't seen them anywhere yet..
-
I was using a white float and we were fishing maybe 4-5 feet of water crystal clear and I was into fish consitently all day, I would have to say that the floats don't spook the fish at all

The balsa's look exactly like the Foam, the only difference being that they are a wood grain tan.
The white on the bottoms didn't matter in the least. Not to mention that they land so softly on the water that they won't draw much attention to themselves. After using the Stealth floats, I noticed that the cast is a bit wonky and they are a bit longer than I would like. So I am sticking to the DNE. In my opinion they perform better, you get better casting accuracy and they are just as sensitive as the Drennans and Stealth floats. One more thing is that they are CHEAPER. The foam ones anyways. But that is just me, your opinion on the subject may differ. :)
One other thing, we had no problems at all like you do with other foam dink floats, when the soft plastic tub comes out of the float. That is a real pain in the my friend. In the DNE floats, it is a much harder less flexible tube, which work well and holds together well. ;)

Give me back that stealth float, or give it to Merc. ;D
-
Not gonna happen, it already has a Canucks logo on it!! ;D
-
Does the DNE comes only in straight throughs ?
-
That is all I have seen so far. But why would you want a wrap around float? They fray your line and get cut all the time. :-\ Wrap arounds in my opinion are just not worth the trouble they cause. :)
-
Just asking. Actually I prefer straight throughs.
